Edison Ballroom
More than 150 people gathered at the Edison Ballroom in Manhattan to recognize the accomplishments of ten professional athletes who are members of the Jefferson Award for Public Service Dream Team and the winner of the “Bill Walsh Champion of Change Award”: legendary trailblazer and basketball Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman. Several members of the Dream Team for Public Service were there: Stuart Holden (Houston Dynamo), Lauryn Williams (Track and Field), Justin Tuck (New York Giants) and AT&T Fan Favorite Award winner Nnamdi Asomugha (Oakland Raiders) shed light on what inspires them to give back.

Olympic Club Lakeside, San Francisco, CA
The Olympic Club Foundation Golf & Tennis Classic and Grand Auction benefited the Emerald Bowl Youth Sports Program in partnership with All Stars. The day included 18 holes of golf on two of the most beautiful and renowned golf courses in the world—the Olympic Club Lake and Ocean Courses.
On Monday, July 13th, New York Giant and Super Bowl Champion defensive end Justin Tuck hosted the first ever "Tuck’s Celebrity Billiards Tournament" Presented by The Ritz-Carlton Residences, North Hills.
The \event was held at Slate in New York City and raised $140,000 for Tuck’s R.U.S.H. for Literacy. Among the celebrities who came out to show their support were Adalius Thomas (New England Patriots), Buddy Valastro (TLC’s Cake Boss), Jeanette “The Black Widow”, John Legend, Kelly Rowland, Spike Lee and more.
Marcus Allen's annual Celebrity Invitational took place June 7th and 8th with a Celebrity Poker Tournament and Club 32 Jam Party at Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood. The next day's Celebrity Golf Tournament hosted by Marcus Allen was at the stunning backdrop of the North Ranch Country Club, which is nestled in the hills northwest of Los Angeles.
Lauran & Justin Tuck hosted a reception at the Pink Elephant in New York City to celebrate the inaugural year of Tuck's R.U.S.H for Literacy. R.U.S.H. brought over 17,500 books to more than 1,500 children across Central Alabama and New York City, and raised over $100,000 as part of the Sack Challenge during the 2008 NFL Season.
The 2nd Annual Sports, Business & Philanthropy Luncheon at the Sports Museum of America in downtown Manhattan presented an impressive array of modern-day luminaries- Justin Tuck, Ronnie Lott, Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings and George Martin.
The event kicked off with a keynote address from Secretary Spellings, All Stars welcomed Justin Tuck to the team, and Craig Walsh presented this year’s Bill Walsh Champion of Change Award to George Martin.
All Stars Fantasy Football Draft Party
In 2007, All Stars Helping Kids became the official Fantasy Football partner of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This season kicked off with the ultimate tail gate party at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco featuring NFL Players discussing the upcoming season, a live fantasy football draft, and beats from DJ Hapa. Guests took part in amazing live and silent auctions, received outstanding door prizes and took part in other fun games and entertainment.
Marcus Allen Celebrity Invitational
This Celebrity Poker Tournament featuring top sports celebrities and entertainers was followed by a Celebrity Golf Tournament hosted by Marcus Allen. The poker tournament was held at the Lucky Strike Lanes in Hollywood and the the golf tournament was at the gorgeous North Ranch Country Club nestled in the hills northwest of Los Angeles. Beneficiaries of the event included: the Marcus Allen Scholarship, KIPP LA, PAX, UCSF Children's Hospital and Success Through the Arts Program.
2008 Legacy for Children Award honoring Ronnie Lott
Ronnie Lott was honored as the recipient of the Legacy for Children Award 2008 given by the Children’s Discovery Museum of San Jose because of his dedication to helping disadvantaged children succeed in life. The Children’s Discovery Museum provides numerous educational programs that include their Open Door Policy and various outreach activities for underserved children.
Ronnie Lott & Harris Barton Celebrity Classic
Our annual first-class golf tournament at the scenic Inn and Links at Spanish Bay featured a dinner reception, live auction, raffle and a performance by Cedric "The Entertainer." The second day kicked off with a pre-tournament breakfast buffet and an awards reception that immediately followed this exciting day of golf.
Archbishop's 11th Annual Loaves & Fishes Awards Dinner & Gala
Ronnie Lott and All Stars Helping Kids were honored at this year's Loaves & Fishes Awards Dinner & Gala as an "Outstanding Community Organization". Each year the dinner honors "extraordinary charitable works" and benefits the programs of Catholic Charities CYO. Catholic Charities CYO serves more than 40,000 children, families and other individuals through 33 programs.
Salute to the Titans: Sandy Tatum
Harris Barton, Ronnie Lott and Champion Charities held a breakfast to honor Sandy Tatum, a "Titan" in the golf community. Over a lifetime, Sandy has been a player, leader and philanthropist in the golf world. The event benefited the First Tee of San Francisco, which aims to "impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf."
Circle of Legends Dinner Presented by Eric's Vision
All Stars teamed up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association to raise money for Augie's Quest (which focuses efforts on ALS research). Broadcaster Bob Fitzgerald was the emcee for this powerful event set in the 49ers locker room. Both the AFC and NFC championship football games were broadcast on big screens, as the backdrop to a silent auction, dinner and a moving live auction. Eric Scoggins delivered a powerful speech, inspiring those present with his words of determination and his drive to help others living with the disease. With the help of our generous supporters, we raised more than $175,000 for ALS research and care.
Night at the Theatre: "The Color Purple"
All Stars teamed up with Champion Charities at the Orpheum Theater for a night out to see the West Coast premiere of "The Color Purple." "The Color Purple" is the story of a woman's struggle against adversity in the early 20th century. It's a tale of love, triumph and personal discovery based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Alice Walker. Proceeds from the event supported All Stars and brain tumor research at the UCSF Brain Tumor Research Center.
1st Annual All Stars Helping Kids Sports, Business and Philanthropy Luncheon & Sports Based Youth Development Summit
On September 27th, more than 100 of the country's most successful athletes, policymakers, business leaders and non-profit leaders gathered at the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square with the goal of promoting a safe, healthy and rigorous learning environment for disadvantaged children. At the same time, representatives from more than a dozen sports based youth development programs combined forces at the first Sports Based Youth Development Summit at First Republic Bank.
Dancing With A Vision
The "Dancing with a Vision" gala held on September 20th raised over $300,000 in support of the American Foundation for the Blind Center on Vision Loss in Dallas and All Stars Helping Kids. Emmitt Smith and Roger Staubach, and Ruth Altshuler were Honorary Charis for this evening of dinner and dancing at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, TX.
"Keeping King's Legacy Alive"
Public Service Announcement Competition
New Tech High School students Stephanie Hernandez and Alyssa Martinez were the winners of this year's "Keeping King's Legacy Alive" Public Service Announcement contest. Their PSA, titled "What's Your Life's Blueprint?" was broadcast on the Yahoo! website and local TV stations on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Each student was awarded a $2,500 scholarship. All Stars and the Martin Luther King Jr. Research and Education Institute at Stanford University collaborate each year for this exciting opportunity. The competition is designed to enhance students' understanding of Dr. King's legacy, get the experience of shooting a PSA with an industry professional, and to financially jump-start their college career.
Ronnie Lott & Harris Barton Celebrity Classic
The 2007 Ronnie Lott and Harris Barton Celebrity Classic, featuring entertainment from Howie Mandel, raised over $1,200,000 via golf sponsorship, a Toyota Camry Hybrid raffle, and an exciting live auction. The proceeds from the evening helped make life brighter for thousands of low-income children and their families throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and boosted our efforts to eradicates brain tumors via our partnership with UCSF.

This event featured NFL Legends Ronnie Lott, Marcus Allen, Lynn Swann, Ted Hendricks, Ken Houston, Michael Irvin, Joe Montana and Tim Brown. Our corporate sponsors included First Republic Bank, Balance Vector, Stub Hub, RealGM.com, the Four Seasons and Popchips. The winning team received a $20,000 donation in their name to their favorite charity and a 3 day/2 night stay at the Four Seasons Lana'i at Manele Bay.
